Who we are
Apocalypse Cruise is made by Sierra Pines Studio LLC, USA ("we"). For anything about your data, email [email protected].
The short version
We collect as little as we can. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never ask for your email, real name, age or payment details. Online play runs on Epic Online Services. Chat and voice are not stored. We never sell your data.
What data we collect
- Game data on your computer: your settings, save game, achievement progress, stored cars, the players you've blocked, troubleshooting log files and (if you use the Stream / Gifts feature) your stream settings, including your own YouTube API key.
- Epic Games account (only if you choose to sign in with Epic): Epic shares your Epic account ID, display name, preferred language and linked account display names with the game. The game uses only your account ID and display name; it doesn't use or keep the language or linked account names.
- Online play IDs: an anonymous ID for your device (if you don't sign in with Epic), the join code of your co-op game and the game version.
- Progress: achievements and four lifetime stats (zombies killed, players killed, deaths, distance driven).
- Cloud saves (signed-in players only): your stored cars and volume settings.
- Player reports: when you report someone, the reason, their player name, your note and their most recent chat lines.
- Steam version: your Steam name and Steam ID.
How we capture it
- The game creates and saves your game data on your own computer as you play. We can't see any of it.
- Your Epic account data comes from Epic Games when you click "Allow" on Epic's sign-in screen. Nothing is shared unless you allow it, and you can remove the game's access at any time in your Epic account settings.
- Online play IDs, achievements, stats and cloud saves are sent by the game to Epic Online Services (run by Epic Games, Inc.) while you play online.
- Player reports are sent only when you fill in and send the report form.
- On Steam, the game reads your Steam name and ID from the Steam client on your computer.
How we use it
- To run the game and save your progress.
- To sign you in, let you host and join co-op games, and show your display name to the players you play with.
- To unlock achievements and keep your stats and stored cars with your account on any PC.
- To review player reports and keep online play safe.
We don't use your data for advertising, profiling or analytics.
How we share it
- With the other players in your game: your player name, your chat messages, your voice (live only, never recorded) and your Epic ID. To connect you, your internet (IP) address can be visible to the other players' computers when Epic connects you directly; the game never displays it.
- With the services that run the game: Epic Games, Inc. (online services; see Epic's privacy policy) and, for the Steam version, Valve Corporation (achievements). These companies are in the USA; they protect EU data with the safeguards EU law requires (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
- If the law requires it: for example a valid court order.
We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone else.
Legal basis (EU / UK)
We use this data to provide the game and the online features you choose to use (contract), and to keep online play safe by handling reports, blocks and abuse (our legitimate interest in a safe game).
How long we keep it
- On your computer: until you delete it. Uninstalling the game and deleting its folder removes it.
- Epic account ID and display name: only for as long as you are signed in to the game. They aren't stored anywhere else by us.
- Achievements, stats and cloud saves with Epic: for as long as you play, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Chat and voice: not stored at all.
- Reports: as long as needed to review them and keep online play safe, and at most 12 months after we've dealt with them.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. In the EU/UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. You can turn chat off (Options > Gameplay), use push-to-talk or turn voice off (Options > Audio), and mute or block any player (Esc > Players).
Children
The game is rated PEGI 16 and ESRB Teen. We don't ask for anyone's age and don't collect more from children than from anyone else. Parents can turn off chat and voice in Options, and can email us to delete their child's data.
Changes
If we change what the game collects, we'll update this page before the update comes out and change the date at the top.
